Our clients at our Como project had recently had a pool renovation and were looking to landscape the surrounding garden areas to support how they intended to use the space. The land was sloping and situated in an area where there is quite a lot of rock to navigate.

To create outdoor areas for their family to enjoy whilst entertaining and swimming in the pool, utilising and focusing on the natural elements of the land including the large rock faces.

Our team designed a captivating entertaining area that seemlessly connects the pool area to the outdoor dining space.
Because of the limitations of space and natural rock face to work around, we worked to combine elements to maximise the space whilst incorporating and highlighting the natural landscape.
The result, a beautiful, low maintenance outdoor entertaining space with a built in seating area, custom timber staircase leading to the pool area where strategic landscape design has been introduced to elevate the natural landscape.
elements and materials
- Stone walls, on-site sandstone | With so much sandstone on site we used as much as possible to create planting beds and retaining walls on a really steep rocky site
- Rendered block wall, besser blocks, rendered | When aiming to create usable spaces, block retaining walls were necessary and look great.
- Timber stairs, bench and decking, Australian hardwood spotted gum | Timber selected for its durability and its suitability for this unique landscape. With multiple uses it really ties the whole landscape together
- Water feature, spillway with reservoir, river lucky stones and stone boulders | Emulating a meadow landscape, running water into river lucky stones and large granite boulders really adds to the overall theme of this landscape
- Plants, predominantly native | Working on the plant selection, an absolute pleasure to have an informed client
The end result speaks for itself, from meadow planting, privacy screening and rockeries.
